Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk or coconut milk for dairy-free version
  • 2 tablespoons sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste vanilla extract or paste for authentic flavor
  • 2 cups ice cubes or crushed ice

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring spoons
  • Ice tray or crushed ice
  • Small saucepan (optional for sugar syrup)

Method

  1. Start by making a simple sugar syrup: combine sugar with a few tablespoons of water in a small saucepan and heat gently until the sugar dissolves completely. Allow to cool slightly.
  2. Pour the milk into your blender, then add the cooled sugar syrup for sweetness and the seeds or paste from the vanilla bean for aroma and flavor.
  3. Blend the mixture on low speed for a few seconds to combine all the ingredients thoroughly. You should see the mixture turn slightly frothy with vanilla specks throughout.
  4. Add the ice cubes to the blender, thenstart blending on high. You want to listen for the ice crushing and see the mixture transforming into a thick, slushy consistency with a frosty, icy appearance.
  5. Continue blending until the slushie reaches a smooth but icy texture, with no large ice chunks remaining. It should look thick, creamy, and invitingly cold.
  6. Pour the icy vanilla mixture into chilled glasses for the best presentation. You might garnish with a vanilla bean pod or a sprinkle of vanilla extract for extra aroma and visual appeal.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy the refreshing, creamy texture and sweet vanilla aroma that evoke summer memories.

Notes

Adjust sweetness and vanilla intensity to your preference. For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with coconut or almond milk. Make sure to chill your glasses for an even more refreshing experience.
