Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomato juice preferably chilled
  • 1.5 oz vodka quality preferred
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce adds umami depth
  • 0.5 tsp hot sauce adjust to taste
  • pinch black salt for rimming glass
  • as needed beet juice to deepen blood-red color (optional)
  • garnishes celery stalk, lemon wedge, pickles, olives for decoration

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or stirring glass
  • Rimming plate or small shallow dish

Method

  1. Pour some black salt onto a small plate and rub a thick layer around the rim of your glass, then dip it into the salt to create a striking, blood-like rim.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker or stirring glass with the tomato juice and add the vodka, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Stir gently until the mixture is well combined and starts to froth slightly, releasing aromas of spice and tomato.
  3. If you want a darker, bloodier effect, add a few drops of beet juice to the mixture and stir gently to integrate the color evenly, creating a deep red hue.
  4. Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice cubes or crushed ice, then strain the mixture into it for a chilled, vibrant presentation.
  5. Garnish the drink with a celery stalk, a lemon wedge, and pickles or olives skewered on a cocktail pick to resemble splattered blood and creepy details, adding height and texture.
  6. Serve immediately for a striking, spooky presentation that’s perfect for Halloween parties and themed gatherings.

Notes

Adjust the spice levels and garnishes to suit your taste; rim with black salt for maximum visual impact. Adding beet juice is optional but enhances the bloody appearance. Serve in a glass rimmed with black salt and garnished for the most dramatic effect.
